however, if you have created a reputation on your on-going name, and this is particular important for those of you who are looking forward to create a bigger fan-base, think carefully before you change your name.

i dont speak for everyone, but i know that when i look at comments, my order of reading is this, their icon and then their name

theres been a couple of times that i failed to recognize a friend's comment because they changed their icon, so even the icon is a big deal if you are trying to make a name for yourself, its really like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

now if you change both your name and icon, its a pretty damn risky thing. I know DA sends your watcher a notice about name change, but you also have to know that there are lazy bastards like me who would fail to see those things when i'm distracted.  

if you have created a name on the internet as, for example:"emerald-dragon" on DA, and people from other sites refer to you as that, think how troublesome it is to say:"oh, this is blue-phoenix" previously known as emerald-dragon. lazy bastards like me wouldn't type that much. its not easy to create a name for yourself on the internet, so its important to hold on to all the popularity you already have.

i dont go around and say hey dude i have the coolest DA name in the world, but if i say i'm wen-m, my watchers will know who i am. and my icon shows them who i am too.


so yeah, just think about it, its a fun option to change names, but just think how that can effect stuff other than the sound of it.
